Light Work's Urban Video Project (UVP) presents Walled Unwalled, an exhibition by 2019 Turner Prize recipient Lawrence Abu Hamdan. The work is on view at UVP's outdoor projection site on the north facade of the Everson Museum of Art, beginning at dusk.

In our solid, everyday world, the invisible surrounds us. Heat waves, sound waves, radio waves, tiny particles called muons — they seep through walls carrying information that used to surveil, to exonerate, or to incriminate. They can even become weapons. Walled Unwalled comprises an interlinking series of narratives that derive from legal cases whose evidence individuals heard or experienced through walls or doors, bleeding through these seemingly impermeable barriers.

Bob Weir, along with bassist Don Was and drummer Jay Lane, just completed their first North American tour, selling out more than half of their 22 dates. The Wolf Bros performed songs of the Grateful Dead and more in a trio setting across major markets.

One of the founding members of the legendary Grateful Dead, which received a GRAMMY Lifetime Achievement Award in 2007, Weir has become one of rock's finest and most distinctive rhythm guitarists. In 2016, Weir released Blue Mountain on Columbia/Legacy, his first album of solo material in more than 10 years and his first album of entirely original material in more than 30 years. Weir is currently a member of Dead & Company which features Grateful Dead members Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann along with John Mayer, Oteil Burbridge, and Jeff Chimenti.

Don Was founded the '80s funk-rock band Was (Not Was), known for hits such as "Walk The Dinosaur" and "Spy In The House Of Love." As an in-demand, highly acclaimed producer, Was has been honored with four GRAMMY Awards for his production work in each of the past three decades, including Best Album honors for work with The Rolling Stones and Bonnie Raitt. Production credits include The Rolling Stones, Willie Nelson, Roy Orbison, Gregg Allman, John Mayer, and Neil Young, to name a few. Albums produced by Was have achieved dozens of multi-platinum, platinum and gold certifications and have sold more than 90 million copies worldwide. As one of music's top bass players, Was has collaborated with countless musicians throughout his storied career, spanning a multitude of genres.

San Francisco-based drummer Jay Lane played with Bob Weir's RatDog for more than 16 years. He was also one of the first drummers of Primus. More recently, Lane has performed with a collection of artists including Phil Lesh and Friends.

In September 2017, Weir was named a United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Goodwill Ambassador. In his new role, Weir will be teaming up with UNDP to raise awareness and mobilize support for the UN agency's work to end poverty while fighting climate change. In 2016, he received the inaugural Les Paul Spirit Award and was honored with Lifetime Achievement Award from the Americana Music Association.

Kiran Singh Sirah is President of the International Storytelling Center (ISC), an educational and cultural institution dedicated to enriching lives around the world through storytelling. ISC organizes the world's premiere storytelling event, the National Storytelling Festival, and supports applied storytelling initiatives across a variety of industries. Prior to his ISC appointment, Kiran developed a number of award-winning arts and peace-building programs in cultural centers across the UK. As an artist, folklorist, teacher, and social justice advocate, he uses the power of human creativity to establish dialogue. An advisory member to UNESCO and a Rotary Peace fellow, he has developed programs, publications, talks and conference papers on interdisciplinary approaches to relationship building around the globe. In 2017, Sirah was awarded the "Champion of Peace" recognition during Rotary UN Day at the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland, in recognition for his work to advance the arts of storytelling, within the arenas of global peace and development. Kiran firmly believes storytelling not only enriches lives, but also holds the key to building a better world.

Fences is the sixth chapter in August Wilson's groundbreaking 10-play cycle of the African-American experience in the 20th century. The play depicts the life of Troy Maxson, a former Negro League baseball player, thwarted in his dreams of a Major League career, who struggles to provide for his family and break free from the boundaries imposed upon him. But in 1957, his son Cory, an emerging football star, sees the world through very different eyes, and his wife Rose yearns for an outlet for her love. From 1984-1999, he was lyricist and lead singer for the nationally acclaimed rock band, The Crystal Zoo, which produced three albums. He is currently touring with a supporting combo, The Holy Men. His award-winning poetry and essays have appeared in many journals and anthologies, including The American Literary Review, The Colorado Review, Poetry Wales, and many others. He has been awarded the Sandburg Prize, a 2013 NC Literary Fellowship, the ASCAP Emerging Songwriter Prize, and the Paumanok Poetry Award; he was twice named the Gilbert-Chappell Distinguished Poet for NC. Flynn is also founder and managing editor of The Asheville Poetry Review.

Light Work's Urban Video Project (UVP) presents Walled Unwalled, an exhibition by 2019 Turner Prize recipient Lawrence Abu Hamdan. The work is on view at UVP's outdoor projection site on the north facade of the Everson Museum of Art, beginning at dusk.

In our solid, everyday world, the invisible surrounds us. Heat waves, sound waves, radio waves, tiny particles called muons — they seep through walls carrying information that used to surveil, to exonerate, or to incriminate. They can even become weapons. Walled Unwalled comprises an interlinking series of narratives that derive from legal cases whose evidence individuals heard or experienced through walls or doors, bleeding through these seemingly impermeable barriers.
