The Whistler (1944)

The first entry in Columbia's "Whistler" series, based on the popular radio show of the same name. A despondent man (Dix) decides to end it all by hiring a hit man to kill him ... but has to desperately try to cancel the contract when he changes his mind.

Mr. Moto's Last Warning (1939)

Cast: Peter Lorre, Ricardo Cortez, George Sanders, John Carradine, Virginia Field, Robert Coote

An outstanding supporting cast joins Peter Lorre in this exciting story of foreign enemy agents who are being tracked down by wily detective Moto before they cause major destruction. An excellent entry in 20th Century-Fox's "Mr. Moto" series, and our version is the studio's beautiful restoration.

Powerful and moving drama about a French soldier (Holmes) who kills a German soldier during a WWI battle. After the war he feels overwhelming guilt and travels to Germany to look up the dead soldier's family. He meets them, but tells them that he's a friend of their late son instead of the man who took their son's life. Great performances from an excellent cast.

Frontier Marshal (1939)

Cast: Randolph Scott, Cesar Romero, Nancy Kelly, Binnie Barnes, John Carradine, Lon Chaney, Jr., Eddie Foy, Jr., Ward Bond

An early version of the famous "Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday" story, with a great cast and excellent production values. A high-quality western from 20th Century-Fox.

We end our season with this fun and colorful musical-comedy from MGM. A songwriter (Skelton) enrolls in college to be near his estranged wife, a beautiful swimming instructor at the school (Williams). This one's loaded with great music and comedy in the fine MGM tradition. In Technicolor.
